In my Mother Earth Series, the Earth is represented as a female icon and she communicates with us through the symbolism of the natural world. I try to make these paintings visually beautiful at first sight, as we often see nature. On closer view there is death, decay, and destruction. Mother Earth is gagged by flowers or butterflies, which symbolize humanity neglecting her well-being at the detriment of our own. Yet she continues to speak her message of love through blossoming flowers, buzzing bees, ocean waves, and twisting trees. The paintings are meant to let the viewer come to their own conclusions, to consider our relationship and identity with the Earth and with nature.
